LIST OF ISSUES
PROTECTING & MANAGING TAXPAYER DOLLARS
My most significant contribution to County Government was finding millions of dollars in savings on construction, asset acquisition and sales, and investments in technology that resulted in cost savings, a better product for the consumer (the public) and a better work environment for County staff. My 30+ years of business experience helped me to reduce spending while having more money for social programs, education and capital projects that improve our quality of life in our community.
PEDESTRIAN, VEHICULAR & RESIDENT SAFETY
While I'd like to think Pittsford is still one of the safest places to live in New York, the reality is that public safety is one of the most important right your local government can control. Working with the Monroe County Sheriffs office to maximize the effectiveness of their patrols and improve response times is something I did while working in the Legislature for ten years. My existing relationships with NYS Department of Transportation to encourage design improvements of intersections, bicycle and pedestrian crossings and increasing driver awareness of dangerous conflict points will make our community a safer place to live.
EDUCATION
Pittsford's Schools are some of the best in the country and it's the reason many people, who are the fabric of this community, chose to live in Pittsford. It is critical that we do everything possible, as a local government and community, to support our education system. It is just as important to hold our school administration accountable for the dollars being spent and that they are being allocated to maximize the quality of our children's education in a fiscal, social and environmentally responsible way.
INFRASTRUCTURE AND ASSET MANAGEMENT
Parks, ballfields, roads, bridges, trails, trucks, buildings, equipment, employees. One important role of your local government, and arguably where a majority of work is actually done by your elected officials, is the management of these assets and town infrastructure. Done efficiently and with proper planning, this is what makes the community function in a smooth and cost effective manor. Done haphazardly and with little planning is what has caused other communities to experience huge and consistent tax increases, degraded services and poor moral in town staff. Managing the town is a business and it takes a business person to make it happen in a multi million dollar operation like Pittsford.
PROTECTING PITTSFORD'S CHARACTER
Pittsford is a beautiful and caring community, and protecting its aesthetic integrity as well as the environment of people who respect each other and who, though from many different backgrounds, share many fundamental values about what makes a place like Pittsford feel like home. I am proud of where I live and those who live here, and I will fight to preserve it.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
A good leader is one who encourages those around them, listens and acts based on what is morally right and facilitates a level of expectation that makes for a compassionate and welcoming environment. We are living in a time of fierce division, where however you feel or believe, there are others who will stop at nothing to convince you you are wrong. I will lead with compassion, with my heart and my moral compass. While I would not expect everyone to agree with me on everything, I can guarantee my choices will be thoughtful and considerate.
